The Wright Brothers- Orville and Wilbur
The wright brothers invented the plane in the early 20th century. They were bicycle manufacturers from Dayton, Ohio. Their first successful flight was on December 17, 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Within two years, the Wright brothers increased their flights to 24 miles.
George Eastman
Developed a series of more convenient alternatives to the heavy glass plates previously used. Instead of carrying their darkrooms around with them, photographers could used flexible film, coated with gelatin emulsions, and could send their film to a studio for processing. In 1888, introduced his Kodak camera. After taking the pictures, the photographer would send the camera back to Eastman's Rochester, New York, Factory.

Louis Sullivan and Daniel Burnham
In 1890-1891, architect Louis Sullivan designed the ten-story Wainwright building in St. Louis. The tall building's appearance was graceful because its steel framework supported both floors and walls. The skyscraper became America's greatest contribution to architecture. Daniel Burnham designed the slender, 285-foot tower, called the Flatiron Building in 1902.
Frederick Law Olmsted
In 1857 Olmsted, along with Calvert Vaux, helped draw up a plan for "Greensward," which was selected to become Central Park in New York City. In the 1870's Olmsted planned landscaping for Washington, D.C. and St. Louis. He also drew the initial designs for "the Emerald Necklace," Boston's parks system.
Other Important Inventions
In 1901 the vacuum cleaner was invented by Hubert Cecil Booth. It was originally called the sweeping machine. Later a man named John Thurman had a service to go door to door and clean peoples floors.
X- Rays were discovered in Germany by a man named Wilhelm Rontgen while studying electricity. Hospitals and even amusement parks used it. The first medical uses for it were kidney stones, it saw a penny lodged in a kids throat, and an American Scientist used it to track bowel movements. Amusement Parks used it so people could see their skeletons.
The first rubber tires were made in 1888 for bicycles. They were invented by John Boyd Dunlop who was a Scottish man. He mad them with rubber and canvas and put them on his wooden wheeled tricycle.
In 1893 the zipper was first invented by a man named Whitcomb, it was called the clasp locker. He made a buinesness out of it named The Universal Fastener Company.
